Tori Sparks (she/her)
is a New York-based performing artist with a 25-year career in site-specific, modern dance and Immersive Theater, who also has a thriving full-time practice as a Horticulturist for residential gardens and flower farms. She has collaborated with several artists and collectives as a performer, movement coach, and co-producer, including Noemie LaFrance, Beppie Blankert, AMDaT, Johannes Wieland, Oddknock Productions, Julia Mandle, Michelle Handelman, Kelly Ashton Todd and Kate Douglas. Tori has devised and originated roles for several landmark immersive theatre companies, including Third Rail Projects and Punchdrunk. Tori co-produced the acclaimed production of with Kelly Bartnik. Tori was an original cast member in Sleep No More Boston with the A.R.T. and originated the iconic role of Lady Macbeth in Sleep No More New York. Her fierce, psychological, and gritty portrayal of Lady Macbeth is the stuff of Sleep No More legend. If you’ve seen photos of Sleep No More, you’ve seen Tori. If you’ve heard a Freakonomics episode on Sleep No More, you’ve listened to Tori. If you’ve seen the Gossip Girl episode of Sleep No More or PBS’s Shakespeare Uncovered, you’ve seen Tori. Tori devised the roles of Mrs. Danvers and Mrs. DeWinter, later portraying the character Hecate, infusing each role with an extraordinary depth of character and theatrical incisiveness. And if you have ever been fortunate enough to visit The McKittrick’s elusive and sought-after sixth floor, it is Tori’s voice that beckons you back to Manderley again. In addition to her considerable contributions as a performer to Sleep No More, Tori also worked as a Rehearsal Director.
